As an online entrepreneur, I have joined several affiliate programs that pays directly via bank deposits. In order for the foreign banks to transfer my earnings into my Philippine bank accounts, they needed my bank’s swift code.
Even Paypal does require the swift code of your bank if you want to withdraw your money from it to your Philippine bank account.
SWIFT stands for “Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication” codes. Some would refer to the swift codes as BIC or “Bank Identifier Code”. The codes of receiving banks here in the Philippines are composed of 8 to 11 digits.
If you are going to analyze the code carefully, you will notice that the swift code is taken from four types of information. They are the bank code, country code, location code, and branch code.
For example: We “BPFSPHM1” as the swift code for the BPI Family Savings Bank in Makati.
Let’s further dissect the code.
BPSF – These first four letters is that institution Code or bank code.
PH – These two letters is the Country code which obviously stands for the word Philippines.
M1 – These could either be two letter or digits and they stand for the location code.
Moreover, here are the following SWIFT or BIC codes of all available banks in the Philippines. Listed below the bank names are their corresponding swift codes.
