But if you do not have the time and patience falling into those long lines of individuals, there are actually two alternative methods. One is to register an SSS Online Account (requires an internet connection) which we will cover on a separate post.
Second is through SMS where all you need is an active mobile number. If you are using a smart phone, you can use the SSS Mobile App.
Both of the two methods allows you to get an update about your load balance, loan contributions applications, disability, sickness, maternity, and retirement status.
So how do you inquire about your SSS Status, Loan, and Contribution thru SMS?
Inquiring about your SSS information update via text requires a series of simple codes. Make sure that you follow each step and enter the correct format below.
Step 1: Registration
If this is your first time to inquire about your SSS information via SMS then you are required to register an account.
To do this, enter SSS REG (SSS Number) (Date of Birth MM/DD/YYYY) and then send it this number 2600. After a few seconds (sometimes it may take longer), you will receive a message reply from 2600 with the details about your 4 digit PIN.
Here is an example of the registration format.

If it happens that you forgot or lost your PIN for some reasons, you can actually retrieve it back through this code format:
Send this text format SSS RESET (SSS Number) (Date of Birth MM/DD/YYYY) to 2600. When it’s done, expect a response message containing details including your PIN about your account.
Step 2: Inquiring for your Loan Status, Balance, and Contributions
Loan Status
To inquire for your loan status, enter this code format SSS LOANSTAT (SSS Number) (PIN) and then send it to 2600.
Loan Balance Inquiry
To check about your loan balance, send this code format SSS LOANBAL (SSS Number) (PIN) to 2600.
Contribution Inquiry
As for your contribution, the code format is SSS CONTRIB (SSS Number) (PIN) then just like the rest, send it to 2600.
Step 3: Check Other Status Updates

Disability
Text format is SSS STATUS Disability (SSS Number) (PIN) and then send it to 2600.
Sickness
Send this text code format SSS STATUS Sickness (SSS Number) (PIN) to 2600.
Maternity
The text code format for checking your maternity status is SSS STATUS Maternity (SSS Number) (PIN). While the number where to send it is 2600.
Retirement
Your retirement status can be checked by texting SSS STATUS Retirement (SSS Number) (PIN) and send it to 2600.
If it happens that you really need to visit the nearest SSS branch in your area where you wanted to know their exact location, you can also do an SSS inquiry about it via SMS.
The format of the code is SSS BRANCH, when it’s done send it to 2600.

Doing SSS inquire update through any of the codes discusses above will cost you an amount to your load balance. Thus, make sure that you have enough sufficient load balance before attempting an SSS inquiry via text.
SMART, TNT, Globe, and TM mobile network users will cost 2.50 Php per text. As for the SUN Cellular subscribers, it will cost 2.00 Php per text.
Moreover, some SSS members especially seniors may have a hard time figuring out this new technological method of inquiring about their SSS account via their mobile devices. If you are one of them, you may want to ask some assistance to the younger generations particularly a family member.
